Decided to buy a FTA Satellite Receiver? Good! Here’s a plan to make sure everything goes right, so you can enjoy free to air as soon as possible!
Before I start I want to point out that you won’t be able to receive programs from paid services such as DirectTV and Dish Network. Not legally.
Step 1 – Get Yourself A Complete Overview
The market is cluttered with lots of models from lots of different brands. Some aren’t developed any further and the market is changing constantly.
This is very common in the electronics market, so the first step is to get an overview of what’s available and – more importantly – what’s proven and popular!
You can start your research from the comfort of your home. Check out local retailers and read reviews on Amazon.com. Or even ask your friends if they already have a FTA satellite receiver.
Make a list of the top 3-5 models on the market.
Step 2 – Compare and Choose
The next step is to compare the features of the models against each other. Do you want to be able to watch it on your television or your computer – or both? Then you need an Internet-ready FTA satellite receiver.
There are many features to enhance your watching experience, such as zooming, dual tuning and video recording.
Make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
Step 3 – Purchase and Install
Now you should be certain about what you want to get. Make sure you buy a decent satellite dish and don’t forget the low noise block (LNB) to enhance your reception.
The equipment is relatively easy to install. If you have any problems, try to check out one of the many user forums on the net.
